Factors Affecting the Cost of Orthodontics
Traditional views of orthodontic treatment often evoke feelings of a daunting undertaking. Bulky braces, multiple appliances, poor aesthetics and high treatment cost are the perceived norm. However, in today’s world, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Technological advancements have reduced the size of braces, improved the efficiency of wires, improved patient comfort, and greatly improved aesthetics. Further breakthroughs in clear aligner treatment, such as, Invisalign, has provided an additional level of flexibility for those seeking superior aesthetics.
These positive changes to orthodontic appliances have made orthodontic treatment less invasive, allowing for fewer and shorter appointments; because of this, the cost of treatment is assessed based on the individual treatment rather than the traditional model which priced treatment to the hardest cases. With more treatment option and reduced treatment cost, there has also been a positive effect on access to orthodontic care as a whole.
