The Invisalign® Palatal Expander System

The Invisalign Palatal Expander System can set your child up for orthodontic success!

A bite that is too narrow can result in bite alignment issues and overcrowded teeth. Made for kids ages 6 – 11, this system of expanders can help widen the jaw if it’s too narrow for their permanent teeth to come in. Palatal expanders were first introduced in the 1950s and used to work by using a key to crank the appliance wider, creating stress for both parents and kids. Invisalign’s system uses a series of 3D printed expanders to put gentle pressure on the upper palate. Since Invisalign’s expander process is less painful than traditional ones, this system reduces anxiety in patients compared to traditional expanders. Adirondack Orthodontics can make sure your child has the space they need for all their adult teeth, all while making the process as comfortable as possible. We can help with all of your dental alignment needs using the most effective treatments available.

The goal of Phase 1 treatment is to develop young jaws and/or arches to make room for existing teeth and for incoming permanent teeth. Invisalign First aligners are:

  • Designed to treat a broad range of teeth straightening issues in growing children, from simple to complex, including crowding, spacing, and narrow dental arches.
  • Removable for easy hygiene, making it easier for growing children to brush and floss.
