How The Invisalign Treatment Process Works
The process begins with a complimentary consultation, at which we’ll discuss your motivations for seeking orthodontic treatment. We’ll take photos, scans, and X-rays, and conduct a full clinical examination. We’ll review all of your options, not just Invisalign. We’ll also go over the costs and insurance options at this time.
If you decide that Invisalign is the right treatment for you, we’ll take your first scans that very day and get right to work designing your treatment plan.
Creating Your Treatment Plan
We use the X-rays, photos, and scans taken at your first visit to map out your customized treatment plan. That plan determines exactly how we’ll move your teeth to give you the best possible results. Only a qualified doctor can do this.
Once we are satisfied with your treatment plan, we’ll meet with you to review it during the Invisalign ClinCheck. We’ll discuss the treatment process and the projected outcome. You’ll even get a sneak peek at what your teeth will look like when treatment is done.
Once you approve the plan, we’ll send the information to Invisalign to prepare your aligners.
Getting Your Aligners
About 2 to 3 weeks after your treatment plan is approved, you’ll visit us to receive your aligners. The minute you put the aligners in, you’ll be amazed by how comfortable they are. Best of all, most people won’t even be able to tell that you’re wearing them – the clear plastic is nearly invisible!
Wearing Your Aligners
You should wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours every day, only taking them out to eat, drink, and brush and floss your teeth. We will explain to you how you should care for your teeth and aligners, and we’re always available if you should have any questions. Over time, your teeth will gently and gradually shift into position. Every 7 to 10 days, you’ll move on to the next set of aligners.
Monitoring Your Progress
You’re responsible for changing your aligners, but we’ll meet with you every 8 to 12 weeks to review your treatment and monitor your progress. We can always adjust your treatment plan mid-course if needed, or complete additional work at the end of your treatment. These course corrections are a normal and routine part of treatment – which doesn’t end until you are happy.
Revealing Your Smile
Once you’re satisfied with your smile, it’s time for the reveal! Celebrate and be sure to take lots of selfies. After all, why wouldn’t you want to show off that gorgeous new smile?
