It is usually expected that in the teenage years, all of the permanent teeth have erupted (Or are very close to eruption) and a person is ready for full treatment. Unlike early treatment, where the goals are to maintain space, regain space, and eliminate detrimental habits, the goals of full treatment are more comprehensive in nature.
The aim of comprehensive treatment is first and foremost to address the patient’s chief complaint (the main reason that they came to our office). Furthermore, the goals are more comprehensive in nature and include pursuit of optimal function, stability, and aesthetics. The results attained during this phase of treatment, should last a lifetime in the presence of proper retention.
As is the case with adults, most types of malocclusions can be treated with either metal braces, clear braces or Invisalign. Regardless of the treatment modality chosen, both treatment time, and treatment result should be identical.
